Benefits of MEC College Now Program

What is College Now?

College Now is a collaborative program between the City University of New York (CUNY) and the New York Public School System. Its primary goal is to promote college awareness and strengthen academic preparation, ultimately expanding students’ capacity for a successful transition to college.

Get a Head Start:

By enrolling in Medgar Evers’ College Now program, students can earn college credit, and in some cases, high school credit as well. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 15 credits that may transfer to CUNY and SUNY colleges, as well as some private universities, depending on the institution’s policies.

Experience College Life:

Some College Now courses are offered on the Medgar Evers campus, allowing students to receive a college ID card for access to the library, computer facilities and other amenities of the college. Other courses are taught virtually by Medgar Evers faculty, providing a full online college experience.

Save Money and Time:

This program helps students save time and money by reducing their college workload. Additionally, textbooks and course materials are provided free of charge.

Engage in On-Campus Activities:

Students can take part in on-campus tours, lectures, activities, and various programming opportunities.

Additional Support for Learning:

The Writing and Learning Centers offer academic support to students who may need extra assistance outside the classroom. Students can also utilize EAB Navigate to schedule tutoring sessions which allows program staff to monitor their progress.
