Graduation
All prospective graduates are required to meet with their respective academic advisor in the Academic Advising Center, Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP), Education Program, or Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge (SEEK) Program before submitting their graduation application package to the Registrar’s Office. Students must adhere to the filing period noted on the academic calendar each semester.
Reverse Transfer
What is Reverse Transfer? A student who has transferred to a baccalaureate institution from a community college or comprehensive such as Medgar Evers College without first earning an associate degree might still be able to earn that degree. With Reverse Transfer, credits earned at the baccalaureate institution that meet and complete the academic credentials of the associate degree are “transferred back” from the four-year institution to the two-year institution.
Criteria for Eligibility
The following criteria were selected to pinpoint the students closest to fulfilling requirements for associate degrees, but each college can request customization for a better fit or to cast a wider net.
Students who are potentially eligible for a Reverse Transfer degree:
- Earned the minimum credits to meet the residency requirement at the associate granting college (30 credits for most associate granting colleges).
- Have not earned an associate degree or bachelor’s degree at CUNY or outside of CUNY.
- Had a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the associate institution (i.e., are in good academic standing).
- Have earned at least 60 total credits by the beginning of the current semester (includes transfer credit from outside of CUNY).
