Bengi Sullu

Bengi is an interdisciplinary social scientist interested in how environment affects human development. She is currently working on her PhD in Environmental Psychology at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York (CUNY) in New York, focusing on the advocacy for children’s right to play in Turkey (where she is from). She also contributes to research projects that aspire to create immigration and education systems that are more inclusive. Before she joined The Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences at Medgar Evers College as a full-time lecturer of social science, she has been teaching introductory, developmental and environmental psychology undergraduate courses at CUNY. She also held a writing fellowship as a doctoral student, which added to her instructional design and student services systems knowledge and experiences. At Medgar Evers, she remains continually inspired by teaching as a field and mechanism through which to create spaces for listening, comfort and support.
