The Cougar Country Food Pantry Featured on PIX 11

On May 7, 2020, Medgar Evers College’s Cougar Country Food Pantry was featured in PIX 11’s news segment, “COVID-19 Hurting Those Suffering From Food Insecurities.”  Waleek Boone described how the College is helping to feed over 500 students and their families during the pandemic. He expressed concern that “food banks are running out of food,” but he hopes “to continue to keep Medgar’s food pantry open once a week.”

The Cougar Country Food Pantry was established through our Transition Academy, which helps students in need navigate New York City’s complex systems to find adequate housing, address food and clothing insecurities, and foster a sense of well-being and peace of mind.
