Dr. Alirio Valbuena considers music his lifelong passion, from salsa to classical. He plays the Venezuelan Harp and the four-spring guitar (Cuatro). On the professional front, he is passionate about innovation and higher education processes, particularly AI modeling. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with an emphasis on process optimization modeling from the University of Kansas, a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Penn State, Smeal College, and a Doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration also from Penn State. Dr. Valbuena feels that more than technology, collaboration and cooperation are the driving forces for institutional and student success. He firmly believes in the powerful joint proclamation of NACUBO, EDUCAUSE, and AIR: “Analytics can save Higher Education. Really”. He considers the most crucial priority goal to be the confluence of student success and organizational sustainability.
