David Gil de Rubio is a proud Boricua, and an award-winning writer with significant professional experience covering arts and entertainment for a wide range of regional and national outlets. His work has been recognized by the New York Press Association (NYPA), Press Club of Long Island (PCLI), Fair Media Council, and the Music Journalism Awards. He recently spent a decade as a community newspaper editor/reporter for the Anton Media Group, where he was a major contributor to Long Island Weekly. During his career, he’s spoken with a number of high-profile artists including Rita Moreno, John Leguizamo, Jimmy Smits, and Carlos Santana. HIs work has been published around the country in outlets ranging from the Detroit Free PressAtlanta Journal-Constitution and East Bay Express to the Seattle Times and Reno Gazette-Journal.
