About the Program
Dr. Brenda Greene interviews journalist, cultural and political activist Rosemari Mealy. They discuss the recently reprinted book Fidel and Malcolm X: Memories of a Meeting (Black Classic Press). Mealy provides the inspiration for writing the book and a context for the events leading up to the meeting of Fidel Castro and Malcolm X at the Hotel Theresa in 1960. Castro had come to the United States for the 15th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Mealy and other contributors reflect on the roles of Fidel Castro and Malcolm X at this historic summit. She also provides the details of the Malcolm X Summit that was held in Cuba in 1993.
