In Collaboration with Mass Communication Creative and Performing Arts and Speech

The Renaissance Festival is a two-day event that celebrates the innovation of Black Artists during Black History Month. It is inspired by the Black Arts Movement and Harlem Renaissance and features a multidisciplinary gathering of the performing arts and media. The festival includes a day of arts education programming for middle school and high school students, followed by a culminating dance performance. On Friday, February 2nd, from 9 am to 2 pm, we invite 30-60 young people to attend a day of performing arts and media courses. The students will culminate the performance with lunch, discussion, and a small performance. The festival’s main performance takes place on Friday, February 2nd, and Saturday, February 3rd. It features two intimate in-studio performances that celebrate the African Diaspora and innovation. The performances include the Multimedia Dance Ensemble, CUNY Dance Artists of the African Diaspora, and CUNY Dance groups.
