The Annual Medgar Evers College Big Read
in collaboration with the English Department
This focus of this year’s Big Read is the book Another Brooklyn, written by local Brooklynite Jacqueline Woodson. The English Department is launching a college-wide writing contest (fiction, poetry, essay), with the winners to be announced at The Big Read. Winners read from their works that were inspired by Woodson’s novel. Winners will also be published in MEC’s Crown Heights Review and go on to be considered for a cash prize and public reading of their work sponsored by The Brooklyn Public Library and the Center for Brooklyn History.
