Students Study Abroad in South Africa

Students who went to South Africa over the winter session have returned to campus with a renewed focus on their individual studies. Fourteen students traveled to Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Cape Town, Langa, and Sandton as part of a Global Public Administration Course.

Public Administration professor Byron Price led this study abroad trip for the Office of International Education. Dr. Fabienne Snowden, professor in the Department of Social Work, also traveled as a chaperone for the students.

Price worked throughout the fall 2018 semester to solicit donations, and donated a portion of his salary, to fund scholarships for the students. Price said he raised $12,075, which resulted in $1000 scholarship for 12 of the students who applied for the study abroad program. He said two other students each received $1000 scholarship from the Office of International Education.
