Medgar Evers College represents CUNY at the New York Business Plan Competition in Albany

The 2016 New York Business Plan Competition takes place in Albany, NY today. Medgar Evers College will represent the City University of New York (CUNY) with a total of six teams participating in the event.

In 2015, eleven CUNY teams from five institutions (Medgar Evers College, Queensborough Community College, Baruch College, Queens College and Hunter College) participated in the regional competition, and five teams advanced to the finals. A team from Queensborough Community College won the Undergraduate Excellence Award in the Energy/Sustainability track and a team from Baruch won first place in the IT/Software category.

“Last year the experience was so rewarding for all the students who attended, we wanted more to participate this year”, stated Jo-Ann Rolle, Dean of Medgar Evers College School of Business. The student body responded in a big way. Medgar Evers College had 16 teams participate in the regional competition on March 24th, and six of them have advanced to the finals being held in Albany, NY today.

According to Dean Rolle, only Medgar Evers College had increased participation of teams across CUNY institutions from 2015 to 2016. “We are extremely honored and proud to be the only institution representing CUNY in the finals.
Medgar Evers College will be eligible to compete for a grand prize among the top teams from New York’s ten Regional Economic Development Council zones.
