MEC Alumna Makes History as Nurse to Administer COVID-19 Vaccine to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris

On December 29, 2020, Patricia Cummings made history as the nurse who administered the COVID-19 vaccine to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, the first woman of color elected to the White House.

Patricia earned an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing (cum laude) in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (magna cum laude) in 2008. She is the daughter of Guyanese immigrants and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University.
