Dr. John Flateau Honored By VIDA

MEC professor recognized by Vanguard Independent Democratic Association

The Vanguard Independent Democratic Association (VIDA) recently celebrated its 50-year anniversary on October 4 at the Dyker Beach Golf Course. Founded in 1973 by the Honorable Dr. Al Vann, VIDA is a political and social club located in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Central Brooklyn

Dr. John Flateau, currently on the faculty at Medgar Evers College, was honored by VIDA. As an organization that has spent half a century being the vanguard of political acquisition for people of color, Dr. Flateau was humbled in being recognized by an organization whose main mission is increasing community participation in the electoral process.
