CLSJ Presents at CBC Caucus

Lurie Daniel Favors, Esq., Interim Director of the Center for Law and Social Justice (CLSJ), was among the speakers at the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) National Black Leadership Summit.  More than 600 Black leaders from across the country attended the two-day summit last Monday and Tuesday in Washington D.C. The summit focused on two critical issues for the Black community: the 2020 Census and voting rights. Daniel Favors was invited to speak on culturally responsive messaging of the Census and the dynamics of race, ethnicity, and nationality in the Black community and why it is important for people of African descent to check Black. Daniel Favors received thunderous applause when she explained that people of African descent might have a mix of cultural backgrounds but they are still considered a part of the Black race.

“You can have whatever flag up on your wall, and you can put whatever bumper sticker that you wish on your car, but on the census check Black.” said Daniel Favors.
