Access to Law School

Some Medgar Evers College Public Administration students got a chance to learn about an option available to them if they are considering law school. Professor Gregorio Mayers, Esq., took 22 students to the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law to meet with staff. CUNY Law Assistant Dean Ryan Dooley, and Admissions Specialist Maya Alpering, talked to the students about the School’s Pipeline to Justice Program.

Launched in 2006, the program prepares underrepresented students to enter the CUNY School of Law and supports them throughout their law school career. The program offers a second chance at admission to CUNY Law to students who have excellent grades but whose LSAT scores are inconsistent with their academic achievements. The CUNY Pipeline to Justice Program is open to all CUNY Students, but Mayers said MEC wants to strengthen that partnership to encourage more students to look at this program.

“We are beginning a process to prepare more students to apply for that program and several other programs offered at the Law School that would assist students interested in attending,” Mayers added.
