Re-admit Applicant

For former Medgar Evers College students who wish to return to the college to continue or complete a degree.

Eligibility and Requirements

• Former students who attended Medgar Evers College as degree-seeking students and have not been in attendance for one or more semesters must submit a re-admit application in order to return to the college.
• Applicants must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better at the time they left MEC.
  • Applicants with less than 2.0 GPA must file a petition for reinstatement.*
• Applicants must have no outstanding holds on their academic record.
  • Please check your CUNYFirst account for holds prior to submitting a re-admit application.
• Some students will be required to prove New York State residency to receive in-state tuition rates.

How to Apply:

Returning students must apply in-person in the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. Office hours are Monday-Friday 9a-4:45p.

• Complete the re-admit application
  • Applications can be completed in our office.
  • Student account will be vetted to ensure requirements to return are met.
• Once cleared by the Office of Admissions, student will pay the $20.00 fee at the Bursar’s Office
  • Please contact our Bursar about payment options.
• Submit official transcripts if you have attended any other institutions since leaving MEC.
• The re-admit application, the $20.00 re-admit fee receipt and official transcripts from any other colleges attended must be submitted in-person to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment.
  • Partial or incomplete applications will not be considered for admission.

We will begin accepting applications for Summer and Fall 2025 on Monday, January 27^th

Application Deadlines:

• Summer Session I Start Date: 02-03-2025 – End date: 05-28-2025
• Summer Session II Start Date: 06-09-2025 – End Date: 07-10-2025
• Fall Start Date: 02-03-2025 End Date: 08-22-2025

Please note:

• Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s at Medgar Evers College are NOT eligible for readmission.
  • Students who have a bachelor’s degree from Medgar Evers College must complete a transfer application in order to continue taking classes at the college.
• Applicants who have been out of the college for two or more semesters will be required to submit proof of New York State residency.
  • Residency must be submitted on or before the first day of classes for the semester the student is re-admitting for.

*Petition For Reinstatement:

• Students with a GPA below 2.0 who wish to re-admit must first submit a petition for reinstatement with Academic Review and Appeal Committee (ARAC) prior to submitting a re-admit application.
• Petition for Reinstatement Filing Periods and Deadlines:
  • To return for Summer/Fall: January 15- March 15
  • To return for Fall (late filing period): May 15- June 15
  • To return for Spring: September 1- November 15
• Only once approved by ARAC students with below a 2.0 may re-admit to the college.
