Biography

Maudry-Beverley Lashley, Ph.D., a tenured Professor, Deputy Chair of the Department of Psychology at Medgar Evers College (CUNY), is a clinical/developmental psychologist whose research and clinical skills are based on a research/practitioner model. She received both her BA and MA in psychology from Hunter College (CUNY) and a Ph.D. in clinical and developmental psychology from Howard University. She has been trained in auricular acupuncture and in the Cultural Context Model

(CCM) in marriage/family therapy and domestic violence. She has worked in the areas of substance abuse, with juvenile offenders, and clients/patients who have suffered a variety of mental health challenges. Her research has focused in the area of family dynamics and how it shapes health among African American and other minority communities. She has published numerous articles and book chapters on the strength and resilience of Black women and on single parents and on health disparities within the African Diaspora. She is interested in developing family interventions to reduce unhealthy lifestyles. She is a current member and Past President of NYABPsi and has held other positions within the organization.
