The Legacy of Medgar Evers and Medgar Evers College

Medgar Evers College (MEC) prides itself on its service to the community through its emphasis on a student centered liberal arts education and career focused advisement.  As the youngest of the four-year senior colleges in the City University of New York, MEC continues to grow its academic programming, internship services, and overall presence in the New York City area. Our commitment has and always will be akin to Mr. Medgar Wiley Evers who advocated for educational empowerment for communities of the African Diaspora.

As an alumnus, you have the key to maintaining and improving the legacy of Medgar Evers College. You are connected to our past as you were there when we built many of our buildings from the ground up. You were students when we launched many of our programs that today are award winning and successful. You are also crucial to our present as you help us construct new buildings and green spaces such as the MEC Campus Quad. You have shared your talents with your community through your time, talks on campus, provision of internship and job opportunities for our current students, and so much more. It is this generosity of spirit and commitment to your legacy and the legacy of Medgar Evers College that we hope to improve our Alumni support services and reinvigorate MEC Alumni Pride. We want you to know that we are proud of the work you accomplished while attending MEC, we are even more proud of how much you have achieved, and look forward to seeing your continued journey to success in your career and in life.  Thank you for taking this journey with us as we aim for the stars.
