International Admissions

International students bring their experiences and cultural perspective that enriches the entire college community. More than 200 International students from 24 foreign countries are pursuing their studies at Medgar Evers College in the School of Science, Health, and Technology, School of Business, and School of Liberal Arts & Education.  To apply as an international freshman, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Show proof of secondary school completion, which consists of official records (or certified copies) from all secondary schools attended with English translation. Records must include subjects studied, grades/mark attained, and explanation of the grading system.
  • Submit TOEFL score if English is not your native language or language of instruction. The CUNY code is 2950.
  • Submit a $65 USD money order payable to the University Application Processing Center (UPAC).

Once you are accepted as an international freshman, you are required to:

  • Step 1 - Obtain the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) to show proof of your financial ability to meet at least one year of full-time academic study.       
  • Step 2 - Submit Form I-901 along with the one-time requisite SEVIS fee. For more information visit FAQs.       
  • Step 3 - Apply for F-1 student visa.       
  • Step 4 - Meet with the international student advisor once you have arrived to the United States.

To apply as an international transfer student, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Submit official transcript (in a sealed envelope) with English translation from all colleges or universities attended.
  • Submit TOEFL score if English is not your native language or language of instruction. The CUNY code is 2950.
  • Submit a $70 USD money order payable to the University Application Processing Center (UPAC).

If you are an international transfer student from a U.S. College/University, you must meet also forward the Transfer Verification Form to your current school so your SEVIS records can be transferred to Medgar Evers College. Once you are accepted as an international transfer student, you are required to (in the following order):

  • Obtain the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20).
  • Submit Form I-901 along with SEVIS fee.
  • Apply for F-1 student visa if you are an international transfer student from a Non-U.S. College/University.
  • Meet with the international student advisor once you have arrived to the United States.
